French

Intent Statement

We intend our French curriculum in KS2 to;

Reflection – enable children to reflect on how language has been passed down, shared and evolved over time.

Exploration – expose the children to listening, speaking, vocabulary, reading and writing in French.

Cooperation – encourage the children to communicate with others in different ways.

Independence – develop a range of topics the children can communicate confidently about.

Perseverance – enable the children to be brave and have a go and that it’s ok to get things wrong.

Engagement – foster enjoyment through games, experiences and using their learning in the wider world.

Golden Threads

Spirituality – the impact of language within belief and how translation can alter the impact of some religious traditions.

Diversity – learning languages helps us to understand people from other cultures and know that everyone has the right to be here and no one should be judged on their cultural heritage.

Ambition – understand that language learning is advantageous in life and can enhance both career and social interactions.
