Forest School

Each half term, a different year group (1-6) gets to spend time in our designated Forest School area learning a wide range out outdoor, practical skills through different activities. They increase their confidence through working as part of a team, communicating effectively to produce positive results.

All objectives covered are fully aligned to the National Curriculum, and they build on the Science, DT and Art Curriculums.

Children are at the centre of their own decision making in forest school, making choices that impact how they spend their time.

During Forest School sessions children will:

  • Build shelters
  • Explore fire safety through making one
  • Complete sensory trails
  • Tie knots
  • Create natural art
  • Explore the wildlife
  • Create bird feeders
  • Create planters
  • Cook food

And much, much more!

The children are asked to come to school dressed appropriately so they can feel comfortable in accessing all aspects of the sessions. The pictures below represent some of the activities we get up to in out Forest School sessions.
