St Francis Church is located at the heart of Bournville Village, around four miles from Birmingham city centre. Bournville itself was developed as a model village by George Cadbury alongside the famous chocolate factory, and it remains a unique and close-knit community today.
St Francis Church is a welcoming and beautiful building, characterised by its light, open interior and a strong sense of peace and space. It is a thriving worshipping community, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds.
As part of the Church of England, the church offers accessible and inclusive Anglican worship, with music playing an important role in its life and identity. It is a place where everyone is welcomed and where faith is lived out through prayer, worship and service to others.
Our school and church enjoy a close and valued partnership that lies at the heart of our Church school identity.
Children from St Francis regularly attend services at the church throughout the year, taking part in key celebrations and services that connect school life with the wider Christian community.
In addition, pupils prepare and lead their own services and performances, which are warmly received and valued by the church community. These opportunities help children to develop confidence, understanding and a sense of belonging within the wider life of the Church.
Each week, visitors from the church lead Collective Worship in school. These sessions are eagerly anticipated by the children and provide meaningful opportunities for reflection, engagement and participation — including the much-loved moment when children open the “suitcase”, which helps bring Bible stories and themes to life in a memorable and interactive way.
This relationship between church and school is not occasional, but ongoing and deeply rooted in shared values, prayer and purpose. Together, we support children to explore faith, ask big questions, and understand what it means to live as part of a Christian community today.
