Forest School

At our on-site Forest School, children have regular opportunities to learn, play and explore in a beautiful natural environment. Each session is filled with seasonal, nature-based experiences designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence. From den building, mud kitchen play and natural crafts to bug hunting, campfire cooking, treasure hunts and group games, children are encouraged to discover the world around them through hands-on adventure and exploration.

Forest School takes place throughout the year and in all weather conditions, helping children develop a strong connection with the natural world and an understanding of the changing seasons. Spending time outdoors in different environments supports resilience, confidence and wellbeing, encouraging children to embrace and enjoy every day, whatever the weather.

Sessions are led by Kate Andrews, an experienced and qualified practitioner from Forest School company, Wild Lives. We create a warm, supportive and child-centred environment where children feel safe to explore and try new things. Through carefully supported, age-appropriate challenges and opportunities to use real tools, children are encouraged to build independence, confidence and problem-solving skills.

Children are free to follow their own interests and lead their own play, developing important social, emotional and physical skills while building meaningful relationships with nature, with one another and with themselves.

All objectives covered are fully aligned to the National Curriculum, and they build on the Science, DT and Art Curriculums.

The children are asked to come to school dressed appropriately so they can feel comfortable accessing all aspects of the sessions. The pictures below represent some of the activities we get up to in out Forest School sessions.
